Things to do with kids: Break Cabin Fever with 4 Fun Activities for New Jersey Kids

With winter’s chilly days and even colder nights, it’s tough to get any outdoor play time. We know cabin fever is bound to set in…soon. Your mission: Get the kids out of the house. Now! You could swing by a library, see a movie, enjoy some indoor play or even ice fish or you could choose something off our list of ideas to break cabin fever. So get climbing, get inspired, get swinging or get laughing -- just get out! And remember, this weather won’t last forever. Daylight savings is only 44 days away (who’s counting?!)

Get Entertained: Dinner with the Family
Nothing beats a good laugh or a full belly. Break the dinner mold by taking your family out for some good old fashioned entertainment. The best part – no dishes to wash!

Medieval Times (Lyndhurst, NJ)
Hear ye, hear ye! Head over to the castle in the Meadowlands for two hours of pure family entertainment. From the jousting tournament to the inspiring horsemanship, your ringside seats at Medieval Times will bring together your entire clan as you cheer on your knight. Adult tickets are $59.95, children under 12 are $35.95, and lap children (under 3) are free. For questions, please call the National Contact Center at (866) 543-9637.

Dunellen Cinema Café (Dunellen, NJ)
New Jersey’s original cinema café allows families to enjoy dinner together while catching the latest kid’s movies. Now showing Parental Guidance, the Dunellen Cinema Café serves lunch or dinner to your table right in the theater. Adult admission is $8, while senior citizens and children under 11 are $6. For information on show times, please call (732) 968-9010.

The Pop Shop (Collingswood, NJ)
From February 25 to March 1, The Pop Shop will be hosting its Dr. Seuss Week! This café and creamery is a throwback to the 1960’s and serves up quirky American-diner comfort cuisine. Not only is this a kid-friendly restaurant with menus for kids and babies, but encourages your little American Idol to sing her heart out and do her homework. (Kids caught doing their homework get a free cone!) Call (856) 869-0111 for hours of operation.

Get Climbing: Rock Climbing Facilities
