Extreme Sports for Kids in New Jersey: Indoor Activities

1. Supercharged Entertainment – Edison, NJ 

This indoor entertainment facility boasts the world’s largest indoor, multi-level go-kart track. All riders must be at least 58 inches tall to race. The venue also offers a 2-story Drop & Twist Tower Ride, Bionic Bumper Cars, a gaming arcade, luxury axe throwing, and a full-service restaurant.

2. iFly – Paramus, NJ

Children over 40 inches tall can enjoy indoor skydiving at the Paramus iFly location. Guests can experience the sensation of flying in vertical wind tunnels with an instructor guiding them throughout the flight. First-timers will need to take a mandatory training class.

3. Adventure Crossing USA – Jackson, NJ

Adventure Crossing USA is a large indoor dome with axe throwing, virtual reality rides, golf bays, an arcade, and a restaurant. MaxFlight is the only fully interactive simulator in the world that can perform 360-degree motion on two separate axes. Guests can choose either a flight simulator experience or 10 different roller coaster rides.

4. RPM Raceway – Jersey City, NJ

The indoor, all-electric go-kart MegaTrack is 2,200 feet long with three levels of vertical elevation, and the upgraded karts feature digital dashboards, paddle shifters, and speed boost capabilities. RPM Raceway allows children as young as 6 years old to race on the flat track. The venue also has luxury bowling, racing simulators, an arcade, and a restaurant.

5. Adventure Aquarium – Camden, NJ

Kids 12 years old and up can swim with sharks and rays at the Adventure Aquarium. Guests will come within inches of sand tiger sharks and stingrays during this 45-minute water encounter. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

6. Lucky Snake Arcade – Atlantic City, NJ

Lucky Snake is the largest arcade on the East Coast with more than 300 games, a go-kart track, axe throwing, rock wall, mini bowling, and mini golf. Go Kart drivers need to be a minimum of 56 inches tall, and passengers must be at least 48 inches tall.

7. Bury the Hatchet – Multiple Locations in NJ

Children must be at least 10 years old to partake in axe throwing at this indoor chain. Guests can book a 1- or 2-hour session that includes practicing and then participating in a tournament.

8. East Coast Water Sports – Cape May and Wildwood, NJ

Children ages 5 and up can parasail 500 feet above the Atlantic Ocean and request a “dip” if they want to get wet during the flight! The venue also offers jet ski rentals, and kids can ride along with an adult as long as they are at least 44 inches tall. For a group activity, families can purchase an hour-long thrill ride on the East Coast Jet Boat, which features 360-degree spins, bow dunks, and sudden stops.

9. TreEscape Aerial Adventure Park – Vernon Township, NJ

This park offers 10 aerial obstacle courses, a zip line adventure, and a kids’ park designed specifically for children ages 4 to 6 years old. Course difficulty ranges from easy to expert, and the staff will help determine which climbing experience is best for each guest.

10. Divers Two Inc – Avon-By-the-Sea, NJ

Got a kiddo who loves the water? This dive center at the Jersey Shore offers scuba diving lessons for kids 10 years and up. Students complete at least three pool dives and four open water dives alongside a PADI instructor.

11. Mountain Creek Ski Resort – Vernon Township, NJ

The 2-hour-long Kids Camp includes a lift ticket, rental, and lessons for skiers and snowboarders ages 4 to 12 years old. The Mountain Explorers Program offers 6 weeks of lessons for kids ages 7 to 15 years old, and students are grouped by age and ability for the weekly 3-hour lessons.

12. LBI Surfing – North Beach Haven, NJ

Children as young as 4 years old can learn to surf on Long Beach Island. This shop offers private and semi-private lessons to teach kids how to surf or skimboard. Each student gets to catch at least 20 waves per lesson.

13. FLG X – Ledgewood, NJ

This Northern New Jersey outdoor obstacle course features a high-wire adventure specifically designed for children 9 to 11 years old. The adventure course includes rope swings, hanging nets, zip lines, scrambling walls, and wobbly bridges. Kids 12 and up can tackle the challenging Adventure Zip Line course if they are up for it.
