Weekend Fun for NJ Kids: Cherry Blossoms, Earth Day & Street Fairs April 18-19

With Earth Day fast approaching, it’s the perfect weekend to get outside to honor our planet and the environment. Weekend Earth Day festivities include the Hunterdon County Earth Day Celebration, the Cape May Earth Day Celebration and a Party for the Planet. While you’re outdoors, feel some flower power at the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival, Daffodil Day and the Earth Day Wildflower Ramble. Hunterdon County Earth Day Celebration (Lebanon, NJ)
It's a jam-packed Earth Day extravaganza at Echo Hill Park where each day's festivities focus on one of the four elements: fire, water, air and earth. Registration is required for each day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday). FREE

2015 Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival (Newark, NJ)
You won’t want to miss this annual spectacular, when Branch Brook Park is bursting with pink cherry blossoms. Saturday is Essex County Family Day, with food, crafts and activities, and Sunday is Bloomfest, with Japanese cultural demonstrations, music and food. FREE

Tenafly Street Fair (Tenafly, NJ)
Street fair season kicks off in downtown Tenafly, with two days of crafts, food, kid activities and a wine and cheese tasting. FREE

Cape May Earth Day Celebration (Cape May, NJ)
Enjoy a busy day of eco-friendly events at Cape May County Park and Zoo. Activities include story time, inflatables, music, magic, crafts, nature walks and more. FREE

YMCA Healthy Kids Day 2015 (Hackensack, NJ)
Get a jump start a healthy spring at a day of games, sports and fun at the YMCA of Greater Bergen County. FREE

Spring into Fun Run and Community Day (Califon, NJ)
Family bonding and exercise all in one. The family run follows the scenic 2.25 mile cross-country track at Old Turnpike School. Post-run pony rides and refreshments will be waiting at the finish line. FREE

Earth Day Wildflower Ramble (Tenafly, NJ)
Take a leisurely hike along trails by the Tenafly Nature Center in search of early wildflowers. Don’t forget your cameras and wildflower field guides.

Sunday, April 19th

Daffodil Day (Summit, NJ)
When you come to Reeves-Reed Arboretum, you’ll be in awe of one of the largest daffodil collections in NJ. Check out the beautiful array of flowers, plus take part in children’s activities, food, crafts and live entertainment.

Party for the Planet (Paramus, NJ)
The kids are invited to celebrate the Earth at the Bergen County Zoo, while learning about the local environment. Stamps that are collected throughout the zoo's exhibits can be turned in for a prize. FREE

Millburn Annual Street Fair (Millburn, NJ)
Always one of my family's favorites, downtown Millburn is home to one of the season’s first street fairs, with food, activities, crafts and more. FREE

Family Israel Day at JCC Metrowest (West Orange, NJ)
It’s a party in honor of Israel’s 67th birthday. Festivities include Israeli dancing, rock climbing, crafts and goodies. FREE
