Free Fridays on the Intrepid
- see all dates
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum kicks-off its Free Fridays series with special astronomy-themed programming aboard the storied WWII aircraft carrier Intrepid, including an Astro Live presentation by Tim Straube, deputy manager of APS for NASA’s Orion spacecraft.
Families and visitors with young children can enjoy demonstrations from Museum educators and participate in drop-in activities that include creating an astronaut portrait and building a lunar rover.
Local astronomers are on hand with high-powered telescopes to help visitors navigate the night sky and answer questions about astronomy and stargazing. Guests are welcome to bring their own binoculars or look through the telescopes of the experts.
Free Fridays continue on:
June 28
July 26
August 23
September 27
American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is available for the Astro Live and the Museum demonstrations as well as for telescope viewing on the flight deck.
Doors open promptly at 5pm. Last entry to the Museum is at 8:30pm (doors are subject to closing earlier; late entry is not guaranteed).
All visitors must enter through the Welcome Center to receive a ticket prior to entering the Museum.
While at the Museum, visitors can also explore the new temporary exhibition, Apollo: When We Went to the Moon, which highlights the remarkable history of humanity's voyage beyond our home planet, and the extraordinary individuals who made it happen.
