Summer is here and it’s time for some festival fun! There is something to please everyone this month, whether you’re in the mood for music, food, nature or a classic carnival. The calendar is jam-packed with awesome festivals, fairs and other fun activities to keep both kids and their parents busy and happy. So grab the fam and check out one (or more) of these 15 not to be missed events.
Rubber Ducky Festival (Berkeley Heights)
June 1, 12-4pm
Don’t miss this wonderful family event featuring food, music, games, moonwalks and more! Stick around for the namesake Rubber Ducky Race at 3pm: Thousands of rubber ducks are launched into the Passaic River where they’ll race to the finish line. FREE Admission. $5 to “adopt” a rubber ducky (see website for details).
Privateers & Pirates Festival (Tuckerton)
June 8, 11am-5pm
Want to learn how to talk, dance and sing just like a pirate? You’ll find tons of fun pirate-themed activities at this fest including a cannon demonstration, pistol duel show and pirate sing-a-long. Admission is $8 for adults, $3 for children 6-12, free for kids 5 & under.
New Jersey Renaissance Faire (Bordentown)
June 1-2 & 8-9, 11am-6pm
Calling all lords and ladies! Step back in time for a day of juggling, jousting, comedy, music, wine and food. Tickets cost $20 per adult, $12 per child ages 5-12, free for kids 4 & under. $2 discount per ticket if purchased online.
New Jersey Seafood Festival (Belmar)
June 7-9, 11am-7pm
Head to Belmar for one of the nation’s largest seafood festivals. Sample yummy dishes from area restaurants and visit the Children’s Fun Tent for activities and entertainment. FREE Admission.
Nature Day (Tenafly)
June 10, 11am-4pm
Spend the day exploring trails, meeting live animals and playing fun games. You can also enjoy a scenic canoe ride on Pfister’s Pond or join the “Sailor for a Day” program. $8 per person for non-members. Free for members.
Spring Festival of Children (Jersey City)
June 10, 10am-5pm
Enjoy music, dance and theater performances at this 4th annual festival in Van Vorst Park. Vendors from local family-friendly businesses will be on hand to provide information on classes and camps for kids. FREE.
Atlantic Highlands Car Show (Atlantic Highlands)
June 16, 12-5pm
Both kids and adults will love checking out the classic, exotic and fun cars on display. Live music, craft vendors and local eats add to the fun! FREE Admission.
Cape May Harbor Fest (Cape May)
June 16, 10am-5pm
Cape May Harbor offers a beautiful setting for this celebration of the sea and its culture. Events include kayaking, live music, tons of kids’ activities and the popular “Scallop Challenge.” FREE Admission.
National Marbles Tournament (Wildwood)
June 17-21, Hours vary
This unique event has been held annually since 1922. Watch “mibsters” (marble shooters) compete for prizes and awards over the four-day tournament. FREE for spectators, advance registration required for participants.
St. Gregory the Great Family Carnival (Hamilton Square)
June 18-23, 6-11pm
If you’re looking for old-school carnival action, look no further. This one has it all: rides, games, yummy food and even fireworks! FREE Admission, purchase tickets for rides and games.
Italian-American Festival (North Wildwood)
June 22-24 (Fri 4-10pm, Sat 10am-10pm, Sun 12-6pm)
A Shore favorite, this festival features vendors, doo-wop bands, a meatball relay and an abundance of food. You’ll probably want to come on an empty stomach. Buon Appetito! FREE Admission.
Whitesbog Blueberry Festival (Browns Mills)
June 23, 10am-4pm
Celebrate the blueberry at this old-fashioned event in historic Whitesbog Village. Enjoy blueberry picking, live music, children’s activities, wagon tours and even a blueberry pie eating contest. Parking costs $8 per car.
Terhune Orchards Firefly Festival (Princeton)
June 24, 4-9pm
Fireflies are a telltale sign of summer – celebrate them with an evening of games, music, wagon rides and firefly hunting. Be sure to wear your wings! FREE Admission, $5 for crafts activities.
Victorian Day (Morristown)
June 30, 11am-3pm
Visit Fosterfields Living Historical Farm to explore the culture and trends of the Victorian era. Activities include letterboxing, maypole dancing, hay harvesting and a special craft for children. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children 4-16, $2 for kids 2-3, free for kids under 2.
Asbury Park Jazz Festival (Asbury Park)
June 30-July 1 (Sat 12-10pm, Sun 12-8pm)
There’s something for everyone at this popular event! You’ll find live music, a huge art show, food vendors and children’s activities including rides, face painting and sand art. FREE Admission.
