Six Fun Things to Do during Christmas Week in NJ

The countdown has begun, but hey, there’s still time for fun and frivolity, no? Unless, of course, you’re one of those people who still needs to do all your shopping (I don’t know anyone like that, certainly not me, ahem). There are lights, holiday train rides, trees, teas and menorah lightings, so get out there and have some family time. Merry Merry!
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
The weekend celebrating on the Morristown Green kicks into daily activity gear for Christmas week, so if you’re still looking for a place to take pictures with Santa, this might be it (Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 8). FREE.
Christmas Afternoon Tea at Liberty Hall Museum
The second-to-last date of Liberty Hall’s Christmas Afternoon Tea is Wednesday, December 21 from 2pm to 4pm, so if your idea of holiday fun is sipping tea and munching on finger sandwiches while gazing out at a formal English garden, you’ve found your place. $35/person, reservations required. Call 908-527-0400 for more info.
The Lubavitch Center of Essex County lists public Menorah lightings in Roseland, West Orange, and more, so check out their website and celebrate the beauty.
Holiday Light and Village Spectacular at Paper Mill Playhouse
The gorgeous Paper Mill Playhouse campus with lights and a holiday village just might be your perfect Christmas week go-to. The light show takes place Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 6pm, 6:20pm, 6:40pm and at intermission for “White Christmas”. A visit to the campus is FREE. Call 973-376-4343 for more information.
Take a Ride on the North Pole Express
If you’re a fan of “The Polar Express” and your kids are begging for a Christmas-y train ride, head over to New Hope and cruise along with Santa and the Mrs. Tickets are available online for $37/Adults and $35/Kids and the trains run frequently.
Festival of Trees at Morven Museum & Garden
Enjoy the elegance of beautifully-decorated trees in all the galleries of a historic mansion (decorated by local garden clubs, so you know they’re going to be awesome). Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am to 3pm, $6/Adults, $5/Kids. Call 609-924-8144 for more information.
