The most interesting and life-changing parenting book I've read.

The Big Kid

My daughter loved this so much, we read it aloud to the whole family. Then moved on to the next one. (grade 3 and up)

Bad Kitty is hilarious as he works his way through an alphabet of naughtiness.

Things to do with kids: NJ Weekend Events March 6-7: Seuss and a Circus, Dancing and Dangerous Animals--lots FREE

Forget “There’s no place like home.”  The mom mantra now reads, “It’s two weeks ‘til Spring!  It’s two weeks ‘til Spring!” Spend the last of the nasty weather this weekend getting a jump start on the coming seasons by imagining you are at a summer folk festival, or step dancing in Ireland, or hunting wild animals at the circus. The “tamer crowd” can celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday, enjoy a carnival atmosphere at JCC Metrowest, or learn something new at our fabulous museums. Close your eyes, click your heels, and before you know it, those gloves, mittens, hats and snowpants’ll be packed away!

Tom Chapin at Fair Lawn Community Center (Fair Lawn)
A rockin’ jamboree is sure to put smiles on the faces of family members—both young and old! The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club will feature acclaimed singer-songwriter Tom Chapin. Recognized by Parent’s Magazine, National Music Council, and American Library Association among others.
Saturday, 3pm (family concert) $15./kids under 14; $20./adults

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss at NJ Children’s Museum
(Paramus)
Are you a fan of green eggs and ham? Then, join with other enthusiasts to celebrate all things Seussical! Watch and interact in a shadow puppet show “Are You My Mother?”; read the classic tales, play games and sing songs. Cat in the Hat craft included and birthday treats, too! No preregistration required. $10./ and children. Babies under 1 FREE

Kids Extravaganza at JCC Metrowest (West Orange)
It’s time to put down the remote and get out for some serious fun! JCC knows how to throw a party for parents and kids alike! Enjoy a lavish brunch, live shows, inflatables, carnival games, face painting, balloons, arts and crafts, and a character meet and greet. Sunday 11am-2pm. $18./child in advance; $25. at door. $8./adult; under 2 FREE.

Traditions of Ireland at Liberty Hall Museum (Union)
Channel your inner Michael Flatley this Saturday with Irish dancing, music and traditions. A great way to introduce your child to the charm o’the Irish–but be prepared for some stomping around your house afterwards! Sunday 10am-12pm. $10./child.

Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey presents FUNundrum (Newark)
Looking for some truly jaw-dropping fun this weekend? Celebrating the 200th birthday of P.T. Barnum, this show features 130 performers from six continents. Performing pachyderms, cowboys, pirates and mermaids, flying trapeze, high wire show, Asian elephants, llamas, tigers and other exotic animals. This is a show you just can’t miss!  Friday 7:30pm; Saturday 10:30am, 3pm, 7:30pm; Sunday 1pm, 5pm. Tickets $12.-150.

What Big Teeth You Have!
(Basking Ridge)
Ready for a wild time?  Travis Gale from “Eyes of the Wild” tells amazing stories about how some of his furry friends find prey and escape from becoming prey, and brings some live animals for kids to meet. Taking place at the Somerset County Environmental Education Center, this fascinating exploration will have your little animal lovers enthralled!  Sunday, 2-3pm. $4. suggested donation per person.

Creatures: Real or Imagined at Princeton Art Museum (Princeton)
Drop-in self-guided tours, art projects, and storytime provide fun for all! Saturday 10:30am- 1:30pm. FREE
