Candlelight Tours
- see all dates
Evening tours illuminated by candlelight showcase more than three hundred years of yuletide on Staten Island, where culture and foodways from many countries combine to create something that is uniquely New York.
Visitors discover how Americans decorated their homes with early industrial wares in the Tinsmith Shop and gather around the candle-lit Christmas tree in the Stephens House, where a 19th century family prepares for the excitement of the holidays. The smell of fresh gingerbread leads to the Guyon-Lake-Tysen House, where treats are baked in the open hearth. In the Guyon Tavern, a lively celebration can be heard in the songs of early 19th century America, and warm beverages are served.
Tours are limited to private groups of up to 6 individuals from the same household or party. Tours are timed to ensure that buildings are uncrowded, and social distancing and mask wearing are required.
