Come celebrate fall with the Bergen County Historical Society at their Harvest Homecoming at Historic New Bridge Landing. Activities for children include scarecrow making, free pumpkin picking and painting, and the Donut Challenge. Kids in Halloween costumes are welcome.

Be sure to visit the Westervelt-Thomas Barn to see broom making and corn shelling demonstrations and the out-kitchen where BCHS interpreters will be preparing seasonal 18th century foods.

 

At 1:30 pm in the Steuben House BCHS past president Deborah Powell will be giving a presentation on the new book The Bridge That Saved a Nation, Bergen County, New Bridge, and the Hackensack Valley by the late historian Kevin Wright. 

The society's New Bridge and the American Revolution: Artifacts and Map exhibit which includes enlargements on nine period maps will also be on display in the Steuben House.

At 3 pm join BCHS vice president Kate Reilly for a walking tour of the Bridge That Saved a Nation.

All three 18th century Jersey-Dutch sandstone houses are open for tours throughout the day. The Blackhorse Inn will also be open where visitors may purchase refreshments and visit the gift shop.

Free parking available on site. Dogs are permitted on the grounds (not in the houses).
