Apples & Orchards—A Cider Party
At Bird Haven Farm, Janet Mavec and Wayne Nordberg host an annual cider party to celebrate the bounty of their farm and ancient orchard. These heirloom varieties are so old that an apple expert from Rutgers was unable to identify them, but the family knows they are indescribably delicious.
Spend an afternoon learning how to properly site, grow, and prune apple trees, as well as the best varieties to use in cider and other edibles. Then learn by doing, for it will be all hands on deck to make cider. Each guest will take home some of the fruits of their labor.
Registration required; space is limited. Rain or shine. The property will be open to general Open Days garden visitors on this date from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m
Registration includes Open Days admission to this garden destination—a $10 value.
