Weekend Fun for NJ Kids: Train Celebration, Teddy Bear Picnic, November 14-15

Hard to believe it’s already mid-November! Take advantage of some laid back fun this autumn weekend, before the holiday craziness begins. Little ones will love the National Teddy Bear Day Picnic at the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts or the Train Celebration at Camden Children’s Garden. There’s also plenty of hands-on learning happening in every corner of our state including Lenape Family Day at the Morris Museum or the Kids Create: Again event at the Roebling Museum. And for an early dose of Turkey Day, check out the Thanksgiving Harvest Home festival at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm. Train Celebration (Camden, NJ)
If there’s a little train lover in your house, a visit to the Camden Children’s Garden is sure to keep him/her entertained this weekend! Kids can make train-themed crafts, listen to train stories and play train-themed games. Also check out Meet & Greet with "Buddy" from the PBS Kids Hit Show Dinosaur Train.

Saturday, November 14th

National Teddy Bear Day Picnic (Madison, NJ)
Bring your favorite teddy bear to the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts in honor of National Teddy Bear Day, and celebrate with a Teddy Bear Picnic for both human and stuffed visitors alike. Enjoy a teddy bear craft and light refreshments and snacks.

Lenape Family Day (Morristown, NJ)
Families can visit the Morris Museum for a hands-on lesson about New Jersey’s Lenape culture and history. Activities include designing a satchel, Indian corn weaving, a self-guided scavenger hunt and interactive storytelling of Native American legends.

Kids Create: Again (Roebling, NJ)
Celebrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Architecture, and Math) at the Roebling Museum. Children ages 8 & up can test their bridge-building skills, engineer a miniature catapult and create a moving machine in the Robotics Lab.

Peking Dreams (New Brunswick, NJ)
China's most revered circus artists perform an awesome spectacle of Chinese circus and acrobatics at the NJ State Theatre. The highly trained artists will perform acts of juggling, contortion and balance set to traditional Chinese music.

Sunday, November 15th

Thanksgiving Harvest Home and Armistice Day (Morristown, NJ)
Step back in time and celebrate Thanksgiving and Armistice Day in 1918 at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride around the property, watch a side-saddle riding demonstration, visit the farm animals, assist with egg collection and so much more.

Jersey Shore Comic Book Show (Toms River, NJ)
This Jersey Shore-based comic book show features old and new comics, professional artists and writers and dozens of guest artists, including Mac the Cat from "Mac and Trouble". Be sure and stick around after lunchtime, because at 1pm, Santa will make a special (and early!) appearance.

Eric Carlyle Family Day (Montclair, NJ)
Join the Montclair Art Museum community for a fun-filled day and celebrate your creativity. Enjoy an Eric Carle Reading Marathon as well as art projects inspired by the current exhibition Eric Carle: Animals and Friends.
