Weekend Fun for NJ Kids: Strawberry Festival, Legopalooza, Outdoor Adventures, May 30-31

Warm days, balmy nights and lots of outdoor family fun has arrived. Late May in New Jersey means strawberries are in season, so get your fill of the sweet fruit at Oasis Family Farm's Strawberry Festival or Alstede Farm’s Strawberry Harvest Festival. For more summer-style adventures, head to the Rubber Ducky Festival in Passaic River Park, get your blood pumping at Trailside Nature Center's Saturday Outdoor Adventure or Be a Field Biologist at Manasquan Reservoir.

Strawberry Festival (Robbinsville, NJ)
All are invited to Oasis Family Farm for a family-friendly festival featuring children's activities and loads of strawberry goodies (think shortcake and ice cream!) Kids can enjoy wagon rides, sand art, craft projects and a pie-eating contest.

Be a Field Biologist (Howell, NJ)
Bring your curious kiddos (ages 4 & up) to Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center to practice being a field biologist. Create a recycled journal, then fill it with observations from a short nature walk.

Strawberry Harvest Festival (Chester, NJ)
Celebrate all things strawberry at Alstede Farm's Annual Strawberry Harvest Festival! Enjoy scrumptious strawberry treats including strawberry milkshakes and homemade strawberry pies. Then take a scenic hay ride to the strawberry patch to pick your own juicy fruit.

Rubber Ducky Festival (Berkeley Heights, NJ)
For a fun Saturday outing with the kiddos, head to the Rubber Ducky Festival at Passaic River Park. This family-oriented event will feature games, food, live music and the popular car show. Adopt a rubber ducky and cheer on your duck as they "swim" down the Passaic River to the finish line.

Saturday Outdoor Adventures (Mountainside, NJ)
Looking to get out and about this weekend? Check out Saturday Outdoor Adventures at Trailside Nature Center for their weekly nature hike and related talk – great both for toddlers and older kids. This weekend’s theme is “Salamander Search.”

Magical Yoga Adventure Reading (Glen Ridge, NJ)
The Glen Ridge Public Library is hosting a special yoga event and reading of the children's book Lucinda's Magical Yoga. Kids will go on a magical yoga adventure with Lucinda, as they pretend to 'be' the animals and characters they meet in the story.

Watercolor in the Garden (Montclair, NJ)
Meet at the beautiful Presby Memorial Iris Gardens and celebrate late spring by creating a watercolor painting of an Iris. The instructor will demonstrate kid-friendly examples of drawing techniques and composition.

Legopalooza (Chatham, NJ)
Children are invited to stop by the Chatham Library and build their own LEGO creations using the library's enormous collection of LEGOs.  All creations will be displayed in the Children's Room for everyone to admire.

Summit Tot Trot (Summit, NJ)
Tot Trot, hosted by Summit Junior Fortnightly Club, is a day of family activities with bounce houses, a petting zoo, food, games and a fun run for children 2-10. This year's Tot Trot benefits the Valerie Fund, helping families with children afflicted by cancer.
