Weekend Fun for NJ Kids: Fairy Festival, City of Water Day, Comic Book Show, July 18-19

In every corner of our state, there’s something exciting to do this July weekend! So get out there with family and friends to soak up the summer sun and make great memories. Big festivals abound this time of year, so if you’re in the mood for delicious eats and lots of activity, check out Lucy the Elephant’s Birthday on the Boardwalk, the Asbury Park Blues & Brews Festival or the Burlington County Farm Fair. The fun continues with the return of the Fairy Festival at the Watershed Reserve, the Jersey Shore Comic Book Show and the City of Water Day in Hoboken.

Big Apple Circus: Fun2C (Morristown, NJ)
Big Apple Circus is proud to present a new show at Bergen Performing Arts Center. Witness jugglers flipping fancies with abandon, clowns dishing out laughter, aerialists and acrobats swirling with style and an amazing hand–balancer.

Burlington County Farm Fair (Springfield Township, NJ)
In the mood for some down-home fun?  The Burlington County Farm Fair includes 4-H animal exhibits, pony rides, clowns and live performances. Kids can enter the Scarecrow Recycling Contest, participate in the “Farmer for a Day” program or enter the scavenger hunt.

Saturday, July 18th

Lucy’s Birthday on the Boardwalk (Margate, NJ)
Happy 134th Birthday Lucy! Celebrate the giant elephant statue’s big day with a fun celebration.  Enjoy carnival games, activities, rides, food and much more. Activities for kids include rock climbing wall, giant water slide, moon bounce and mechanical elephant ride. Birthday cake for all!

Summer in the Street (Toms River, NJ)
Nothing says summer like an outdoor street fair! Bring the whole gang to Washington Street in Toms River to hear local bands perform, get your face painted, play games, sample delicious food and watch street performers.

Fairy Festival (Pennington, NJ)
Don your wings for the return of the Fairy Festival at the Watershed Reserve! Join the Rainbow Fairies, Woodland Fairies and Forest Elves as they dance around the maypole, create magical crafts, construct villages along the Fairy Trail and play in the stream with the Water Sprites.

Asbury Park Blues & Brews Festival (Asbury Park, NJ)
All ages are invited to Bradley Park for this fun and family-friendly celebration including live music, craft vendors, children’s activities and fabulous food. A hospitality tent will feature arts & crafts projects and refreshments for the kids.

City of Water Day (Hoboken, NJ)
Celebrate the NY-NJ Harbor at this FREE waterfront festival in Maxwell Place Park. Highlights include historic boat tours, live music, ferry rides and food from local vendors. There is plenty of fun for the kids too—visit the children’s tent for interactive and educational activities relating to the waterfront.

Sunday, July 19th

Jersey Shore Comic Book Show (Toms River, NJ)
This comic book festival features vendors offering old and new comics, cards, toys, action figures and collectibles. Star Wars, Ghostbusters and Halo characters will appear in costume.

Community Fossil Hunt (Middletown, NJ)
Roll up your sleeves and wear your rubber boots as you hunt for fossils alongside an experienced guide at Poricy Park. Trowels and sifters will be provided but don’t forget a bucket to collect your treasures!
