May is officially underway, and this first full week of the month is packed with outdoor fun and indoor creativity. Enjoy springtime weather at Pay the Temp Tuesday, National Public Gardens Day and Hiking Adventures in Tatum Park. Or head inside for Puppetonia and Uptown Storytime. Monday, May 4th

Northern NJ:
Mobile Butterfly Experience (Paramus)
Butterflies have taken over the Paramus Park Mall! Check out over 200 live butterflies in this traveling exhibit housed within the shopping center. Visitors will have the opportunity to feed and interact with the colorful creatures. Exhibit runs every day through May 23rd.

Jersey Shore:
Building Star Wars Ships with Kerbal Contest (Cape May)
Star Wars fans will have the opportunity to build their own spaceships in the Kerbal EDU Space Program. The event, held at the Cape May County Library, ends with a best ship contest. FREE

Tuesday, May 5th

Northern NJ:
Growing in the Garden Preschool Program (Morristown)
Macculloch Hall’s garden is the perfect spot for a springtime afternoon activity. Preschoolers are welcome to take part in storytime, a walk and a project. Pre-registration is required.

Central NJ:
Pay the Temp Tuesdays (Medford)
Kids can chow down on hot dogs or ice cream at Johnson’s Corner Farm every Tuesday evening . The cost? The current temperature in cents! Let’s hope for a warm night (but not a scorcher). Enjoy the farm at half price admission after 5 as well.

Kids Art Hour (Lincroft)
Get creative with recycled materials at Monmouth Museum’s Green Arts Studio. A new project is presented every week. Free with paid museum admission.

Puppetonia: Land of Music and Puppets (Hoboken)
Swing by the Symposia Bookstore for an enjoyable and educational puppet show, featuring rhythm, community themes and bedtime stories. Music, verbal instructions and bubbles are all part of the fun.

Hiking Adventures in Tatum Park (Middletown)
Toddlers are invited for an outdoor adventure on the trails of Tatum Park. A short walk is followed by fun activities and a park keepsake. Bring a snack and beverage along.

Uptown Storytime at the Museum (Hoboken)
Hoboken Historical Museum is the setting for this storytime session for ages 2-5. Check out some of the great exhibits while you’re there. Storytime is FREE.

Crafty Kids Workshops (Maplewood)
Preschoolers can end the week on a creative note at Crafty Kids Workshops, where a new project is explored each week. Kids will love experimenting with paint, clay and glue for their art work.
