As the weather’s getting cooler and the days are getting shorter, it’s a great time to take advantage of outdoor nature activities before the winter arrives. This week, there are plenty of nature exploration opportunities, including Awesome Animal Artists, Preschool Walk: Gobble Gobble and Tot Walk: Animal Homes. Northern NJ:
Awesome Animal Artists (Chatham)
Bring your young artists to Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center for a lesson and drawing project based on a New Jersey animal. The workshop takes place both outdoors and indoors, and pre-registration is required.

Jersey Shore:
Magic Workshop (Holmdel)
Abracadabra! Holmdel Library welcomes kids to a magic workshop featuring magician Tom Yurasits. Pre-registration is required. FREE

In honor of upcoming Turkey Day, head over to Pyramid Mountain and learn about turkeys while walking on the trails. A turkey-themed craft is included. Pre-registration is required.

Bouncy Booktime (Lambertville)
Bounce on over to the Lambertville Library for toddler and preschool-level stories and crafts. There are 2 morning sessions. FREE

Sing-a-Long Puppet Show (Edgewater)
The little ones will enjoy this sing-a-long puppet show at My Kinder Club. Jacob, with his guitar, will entertain the group with live music and an interactive story. See link for RSVP information.

Family Science Night (Pennington)
Spend an evening with the family at Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association for some after-sunset science fun. The teachers and naturalists will lead the group in basic experiments using water in the new LEED-Platinum Watershed Center. Pre-registration is required.

Explore plants and animals with your 2-3 year olds at Echo Hill Park. The program includes an outdoor nature walk followed by an indoor story and craft. Pre-registration is required.

Crafty Kids Workshops (Maplewood)
Get creative with paint, clay and glue at Express Yourself Studios. A new project is introduced each week using various art materials.

Jersey Shore:
Club MAC’s Thanksgiving Party (Middletown)
Drop off the kids for a fun Thanksgiving celebration at Middletown Arts Center. Activities include viewing A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, having a turkey race, crafts and pizza for dinner. Pre-registration is required.

Northern NJ:
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Reading & Beading (Westfield)
Kids 3-6 are invited to create a bracelet or beaded keychain based on the children’s favorite Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, following a reading of the story. The event takes place at Just Bead Yourself, and pre-registration is required.
