The week kicks off with Martin Luther King Day, a day of peace and remembrance, as well as a day off from school. Keep the kids busy at Explore the Dream Through Art Workshop or a fun day of Skate & Play at Depford Skating, plus various other community events. Nature programs are popping up all over the state this week, including Awesome Animal Artists, Maple Tree Tapping and Kids and Critters Preschool Program. Southern NJ:
Martin Luther King Day Skate & Play (Westville)
Glide over to the Depford Skating and Fun Center for an exciting morning of skating with the Ice Princess or afternoon pizza and skating.

Northern NJ:
Explore the Dream Through Art Workshop (Maplewood)
Learn about peace, friendship and equality through an art project at Express Yourself Studios in honor of Martin Luther King’s Day. Children ages 4-12 are welcome, and a non-perishable food item is requested.

Warm up those pipes and come for a sing-along with Mr. Ray at the South Plainfield Senior Center. A non-perishable food donation is requested. FREE

Maple Tree Tapping (Pennington)
Rejoice in maple sugaring season at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Reserve. Bundle up and assist with tapping the trees used for this year’s sap collection.

Northern NJ:
Thursday Afternoon Explorers (Tenafly)
Dress warm and explore plant and animal exhibits along the hiking trails at Tenafly Nature Center. This is a drop-off program for 4-7 year olds, and registration is required.

Drop off the kids at Fire Me Up! for an active evening of painting and pizza. Registration is required for ages 7+.
