Weekday Event Picks for NJ Kids: Baby Parade, 4-H Fair, August 10-14

The countdown to school is on! Start dusting those cobwebs off the brains at educational and fun events this week, such as Morris Museum’s Science Tuesdays, Montclair Art Museum’s Park Bench and RVCC Planetarium's The Little Star That Could. Monday, August 10th

Central NJ:
Sing Along: Farm Frolics (Bridgewater)
Barnyard animals have taken over the Bridgewater Library! Well, not real animals, but songs and dances with a barnyard theme will be the focus of this event, in preparation for the 4-H Fair. FREE

Northern NJ:
Pinkalicious: Reading and Beading (Westfield)
The kids will be tickled pink when they create a Pinkalicious pink bracelet or beaded bookmark at Just Bead Yourself. Caregivers are welcome to create earrings. Pre-registraion is required.

The Little Star That Could (Branchburg)
Kids are invited to learn all about stars and the solar system at the Raritan Valley Community College Planetarium. This special children’s show follows a yellow star on its journey to get a name and a planet of its own. Reservations required.

Northern NJ:
Science Tuesdays (Morristown)
Bring your budding scientists to the Morris Museum every Tuesday for this fun and educational workshop. New ideas are explored each week, with interactive activities and demos.

MAM Park Bench (Montclair)
Introduce the little ones to museum culture at Montclair Art Museum’s monthly children’s experience. Art projects, a gallery tour and story time are all part of the fun. This week’s session will be held outdoors with the MAM Art Truck.

Central NJ:
Somerset County 4-H Fair (Bridgewater)
This 3-day festival kicks off with model planes and trains, dancing and twirling competitions, dog, horse and livestock shows and demonstrations provided by local 4-H clubs. Food and entertainment will be featured as well. Free shuttle buses will run from Raritan Valley Community College to North Branch Park each day. FREE

Summer Fun Days (Union)
What is it like to be a snowman in the summer? Head over to Liberty Hall Museum’s busy day of activity, including crafts, games and snacks, based on Frozen’s Olaf. Pre-registration is required.

Ocean City Baby Parade (Ocean City)
It’s a parade of cuteness on the Ocean City boardwalk. Cheer on the tots as they make their way from 6th to12th Street in the 106th year of this annual event. FREE

Friday Night Karaoke Dance Party (Matawan)
Here’s a fun way to start the weekend. Drop off the kids at Gurlie Locks for an evening of dancing and singing, plus makeup and nail polish application. Pizza will be served. Advanced registration is required.

Northern NJ:
Tot Tours (Morristown)
Pop over to the Morris Museum for "Bubble Fun", this week’s theme for their weekly 2-5 year old workshop. Activities include story time and a craft. Pre-registration is required.
