With Memorial Day behind us and the first weekend in June just ahead, it sure feels good to welcome the warm summer months! June is full of family fun, whether you check out the Scottish Festival and Highland Games at Bonnie Brae, take a nature walk with your canine companion at Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary or enjoy those first juicy strawberries of the season at Alstede Farms. Zany Jack & the Beanstalk (Hoboken, NJ)
The much-loved story of Jack and the Beanstalk and its talented cast will delight children while entertaining their families in the 13th season of the Hudson Theatre Ensemble Children’s Series Silly on Sixth. And if your child has a June birthday, let the theater know ahead of time and the entire audience will sing ‘Happy Birthday’ – afterwards your group will have the chance to meet the actors. 4th Annual Civil War Encampment (Farmingdale, NJ)
Take advantage of the summertime weather and head to Allaire Village for a weekend of family fun and history. Meet with soldiers, shop at period stores, witness artillery demonstrations and hear music from the 1860’s. Also be sure and sample some delicious eats from the Bakery and General Store and learn about what day to day life was like in the mid 1800s with a tour of the Historic Homes and Trade Shops. TREE-mendous Geocache Adventure (Pennington, NJ)
Join this unique exploration of trees on the Watershed Reserve through the hobby of geocaching. Discover a variety of tree species as well as some unusual features that expand our understanding of the role of trees in the forest and in our lives. Both beginners and experienced cachers are welcome to join in on this 'scavenger hunt in the wild.' Participants must supply their own GPS unit. Advanced registration recommended. 2013 Scottish Festival and Highland Games (Liberty Corner, NJ)
You don't have to be a Scotsman to join in on the celebrations at the 2013 Scottish Festival and Highland Games. The Bonnie Brae campus is hosting a day packed with festivities including over two dozen bagpipe bands in competition and parade, Highland Dancers and competition, sheep dog demonstrations, Scottish Athletic competitions, children's activities, a British Car Show and vendors of Scottish foods and treasures gathered together to celebrate all things Scot. 9am-5:30pm. $12/Adult, $3/Child under 16, Children under 6 are free. 908-647-4700

Superhero Breakfast (Florham Park, NJ)
