If you’ve been waiting to get your fill of all things Easter, this weekend is the perfect chance! New Jersey is bursting with family friendly holiday activities: hop aboard an Easter train on the Delaware River Railroad, have a family picnic and egg hunt at Fernbrook Farms or head down the shore and meet the Easter Bunny at Cape May Zoo. Looking for a little non-Easter fun? Check out the always entertaining Milk & Cookies interactive story time at the State Theatre or spend a relaxing day at the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival. Easter Bunny Train Ride & Egg Hunt (Phillipsburg, NJ)
Celebrate Easter as you ride the Bunny Train down the Delaware River Railroad. Your route will wind along the scenic Delaware River leaving from the Historic District of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Hop off the train and wander through a beautiful glade filled with Easter eggs – and don’t forget to take a picture with the big bunny before heading home!

Saturday, April 12th

Milk & Cookies: Treasured Songs and Stories (New Brunswick, NJ)
Milk & Cookies is a lively, interactive and FREE storytelling series for children ages 3 to 8. Each session invites young people to discover the joy of watching, listening and interacting with the arts. This Saturday, Lisa Garwood will bring folktales and songs to life – and of course, everyone will enjoy a milk and cookies snack!
 
Into the Woods Family Picnic & Easter Egg Hunt (Chesterfield, NJ)
Bring the whole family out for a day of adventurous antics as Fernbrook Farms kicks off their first Easter Festival and Egg Hunt! Send the little ones on a Great Lawn egg hunt, while older kids scour the forest for hidden treasures in a Photo Scavenger Hunt. Adults will appreciate the gourmet picnic offerings and kids will keep occupied after the egg hunt with wagon rides, music and farm animals.

Egg Family Festival (Morristown, NJ)
An “egg-citing” day for the whole family at Morris Museum! Learn all about the eggs, the symbol of springtime, at the new ‘Egg-zibit: The Art, Science, and Culture of Eggs.’ Then have the kids roll up their sleeves and get busy decorating eggs, crafting egg animals and creating clothespin chicks.

Easter Bunny Train Ride (Wayne, NJ)
Calling all train lovers! Hop aboard a locomotive at the Wayne Transit Center for an hour long Easter ride. The Easter Bunny will make his way through the train, giving each child a special gift and an opportunity to take a keepsake picture. Don’t forget your cameras!

Easter Bunny at Cape May Zoo (Cape May, NJ)
Have a fun-filled day at the Cape May Park Zoo starting with an Easter Egg Hunt to let the kids run off some weekend energy. Then visit the Easter Bunny for pictures and hugs at the Zoo Aviary. Afterwards, take a stroll around the grounds to check out the rest of the animals or take part in some springtime arts and crafts.

Shake it Up – Shakespeare for Students (Hackettstown, NJ)
Go on a journey through some of the famous author’s greatest works and characters in this interactive show. This performance at the Centenary Little Theatre is meant to engage young audiences and introduce a new way to look at Shakespeare.

Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival (Newark, NJ)
New Jersey families wait for the beautiful pink blossoms each spring and they’re finally here. Enjoy a relaxing day at Branch Brook Park – our state’s pinkest! A packed schedule of events includes Japanese cultural demonstrations, children's activities, live music, a crafter's marketplace, food and more.

The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare (Morristown, NJ)
Lightwire Theater uses dazzling visuals, black light effects, music and choreography to bring these two classic children’s tales into a new and brilliant light. Get your tickets ahead of time to see these both Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Ugly Duckling’ and Aesop’s ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ told in a refreshing and modern way at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

Eggs Bunnydict (Tenafly, NJ)
Meet a furry rabbit friend at Tenafly Nature Center and learn about these gentle, curious and affectionate mammals. Then create a basket using recycled paper and search for hidden candy eggs in the “magical” rabbit habitat along the woodland trails. Children will use natural dyes from fruit and vegetables to produce beautifully colored eggs.
