 Horse-drawn sleigh rides, nostalgic model trains, roasting marshmallows on an open fire--yup, it's  finally that time again. Christmas in Connecticut. From winter wonderlands to festivals of light, we have rounded up some wonderful holiday happenings this holiday season in Fairfield County, CT. For more holiday fun check out our Holiday Guide.

Visit with Santa’s Reindeer, Greenwich
With a brand new location at Sam Bridge Nursery & Greenhouses, the 8th annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival and Santa's Village opened on November 25th.  Santa’s reindeer (real live reindeer!) are coming to town right up through December 23rd.  Come visit them – feeding times are daily at 9 and 3:30pm.

Festival of Lights, Norwalk
Celebrate "Festival of Light" traditions from around the world at Stepping Stones Museum. The program is offered on Sundays afternoons from 1-1:30pm through December 18th.

Annual Holiday Express Train Show, Fairfield
The Fairfield Museum opens its 10th annual holiday train show on December 5th.  The wondrous display of nostalgic model trains winding through festive holiday scenery will be up for the holiday season through January 3rd.

370 Beach Road, Fairfield

Menorah Lighting, Norwalk
Come to Stew Leonard's in Norwalk for the 25th annual lighting of the Hanukkah menorah. The 18 foot menorah will be lit by Rabbi Hecht of Beth Israel, and the lighting will be be followed by traditional songs, dances and refreshments.

Winter Wonderland, New Canaan
The New Canaan Nature Center transforms itself into a winter wonderland on December 17th with fun and exciting seasonal activities like a gingerbread house creation contest, a wacky winter scavenger hunt and roasting marshmallows on an open fire. Come down to the nature center for pictures with Santa, horse-drawn wagon rides and a holiday express model train display.

Breakfast with Frosty, Bridgeport
Frosty the Snowman will be joining Stripes (the zoo's mascot) and Thirsty, Aquarion's penguin, at the Beardsley Zoo's annual holiday breakfast. Enjoy waffles or pancakes, eggs, meats, juice and hot chocolate with your favorite snowman. Advance reservations strongly recommended.

Santa's Railyard, Danbury
Hop on a train to Santa's Toyland at the Danbury Railway Museum this holiday season. Each train ride includes a gift for each child, a coloring station, temporary tattoos and more. Trains depart every half-hour on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Evening train rides through the lighted rail yard are offered on Saturdays at 4:30 pm

Shark-diving Santa, Norwalk
Watch as Santa Claus straps on his scuba gear and joins The Maritime Aquarium's dive team into the shark tank. Offered most Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from November 26th through December 22nd, Santa will dive with the sharks and offer a photo op for Aquarium guests.
