Golf Lessons for New Jersey Kids

When the grass turns green and the temperatures warm up many New Jersey moms and dads grab their golf clubs and hit the links.  This summer, why not get the kids in on the fun?  The game of golf teaches skill, logic and honesty, and it happens to be a great way for kids to pass the time during the summer months.  With some of the best golf courses in the country, New Jersey is the perfect place to introduce kids to this fantastic sport.  Start them swinging by enrolling them in one of these great kids golf programs.  Check out our post on the Best Miniature Golf Courses in New Jersey for more fun golf options this spring and summer.

Hyatt Hills Golf Complex (Clark, NJ)
The Hyatt Hills Golf Complex is a first rate, public golf facility.  It consists of a scenic, regulation 9-hole course, a full service clubhouse, driving range, putting green and an 18 hole miniature golf course.  Hyatt Hills is a haven for serious and recreational golfers of all ages and a great place for families to spend an enjoyable day.  Junior walk-in clinics are offered every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. for golfers ages 6 to 17.  Cost is $25 and includes unlimited balls, professional demonstration and instruction.  A weekly summer camp is also offered to for golfers ages 7 to 13.  The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and includes lunch.  Check the website for details and registration information.

Total Golf School at Quail Ridge (Wall, NJ)
The Junior Golf Program at The Total Golf School is designed to take children through a progression of classes that will give them the opportunity to achieve success while learning the history and rules of the game.  Classes are offered for children as young as 4 years old.  Classes are kept small and children are introduced to basic rules, swing fundamentals, putting and chipping in a fun and safe environment.  Summer Camps are offered for golfers ages 5 to 13.  Campers are divided by age and ability during this three hour camp.  The camp runs for five days and the curriculum varies per day.  Check the website for registration information.  

Neshanic Valley Golf Academy (Neshanic Station, NJ)
Neshanic Valley's Golf Academy offers golf instruction to players of all skill levels.  Classes are held at the Learning Center at Neshanic Valley.  The practice facility includes a driving range, two practice holes, a putting green and three practice chipping greens with bunkers.  The Junior Golf Program provides instruction to children ages 5 through 17.  Programs vary by age, including both instruction and organized play opportunities.  Currently, classes are offered from March through August.  However, future plans include a year round Junior Golf Program.  

The Learning Center at Galloping Hills Golf Course (Kenilworth, NJ)

The First Tee Junior Golf Program

Royce Brook Golf Club Academy of Golf (Hillsborough, NJ)
Royce Brook's Junior Academy of Golf Camps are great ways to offer your child a safe, friendly and fun golf experience.  They provide exciting and educational programs for juniors, ages 7 to 16.  Their PGA professional staff will ensure a positive learning environment where juniors can learn at their own pace.  Students learn the fundamentals of the game of golf while also learning to interact with others.  After completing a five day camp or a private series of lessons, juniors will have a basic understanding of the rules, etiquette and different golf shots so they can begin to play with friends and family.  Camps for more advanced players are also available.  For registration information, visit their website or call 908-904-0499.  

US Sports Institute
The US Sports Institute offers parent & me golf, golf lessons for kids ages 5 to 10 and golf camps.  Using the SNAG method (Starting New at Golf), children are taught the fundamentals of the game using fun learning tools and methods.  The USSI sports clinics use developmentally appropriate equipment, allowing children to experience immediate success.  The curriculum focuses on simplifying coaching to allow players to grasp all elements of the game , and ultimately transition to a full game of golf.  Classes and camps are offered throughout the state.  Visit the website or call 732-563-2520 for locations and details.
