Downtown Trick-or-Treating in New Jersey

The countdown to trick-or-treat is on! If you’re not ready to send your little goblins door-to-door, bring them store-to-store at one of New Jersey’s thrilling downtown trick-or-treat events. Collecting goodies from your favorite local retailers is a safe, organized alternative to traditional trick-or-treating and a great way to support local businesses. Take a stroll downtown for these free, family-friendly Halloween festivities. Maybe you can sneak in a little shopping while you’re there. Downtown Westfield, NJ
October 26, 11am-2pm
An annual tradition for my family, the Westfield Halloween celebration is a can’t-miss event all around. Beginning at 11am, costumed kids are invited to collect treats from stores and restaurants throughout the downtown area. Following the trick-or-treating, a children’s Halloween parade begins at 2:15pm, where best costume prizes are handed out by sponsored businesses.

Downtown Summit, NJ
October 31, 2:30-5pm
Bring your costumed cuties to Summit after school for its annual downtown trick-or-treat event. Look for Halloween posters in the windows of participating merchants.

Downtown Millburn, NJ
October 31, 12-2pm
Downtown Millburn hosts its annual Preschool Trick-or-Treat, specifically for younger trick-or-treaters. While the older kids are still in school, preschoolers can enjoy this structured trick-or-treat event, where over 50 local businesses will serve up goodies. Look for the pumpkin flyer on doors of participating retailers.

Downtown Morristown, NJ
October 31, 3-5pm
Grab costumes and a big loot bag and head over to downtown Morristown for its busy trick-or-treat event. Over 100 businesses are expected to participate. Look for the pumpkin faces in the windows.

Downtown Somerville, NJ
October 31, 2-5pm
It's always a party in Downtown Somerville on Halloween. Kids can collect their treats from local shops beginning at 2pm. Past festivities have included a dj party, scavenger hunt and character appearances.

Boardwalk Trick-or-Treating:

Seaside Heights, NJ
October 26, 12-5pm
The Jersey shore is booming in the fall with all kinds of Halloween activities. Kids can trick-or-treat throughout the boardwalk and participate in pumpkin-painting and a costume parade. There’s even a Howl-O-Ween costume parade for dogs. The day is topped-off with fireworks on the beach.

Point Pleasant, NJ
October 18-19 and 25-26, 12-4pm
Score goodies along Jenkinson's boardwalk during its “Boo at the Boardwalk” festivities. Family-fun includes trick-or-treating, crafts, face painting and live entertainment.
