Age: All

Location:

On September 14 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Navy Pier, local artists with and without disabilities will share their talents in music, dance, comedy, and storytelling during Center Stage for Access and Inclusion. The Chicago Lighthouse is hosting this free community event for the purpose of fostering a more inclusive world for people of all ages living with disabilities.

A highlight of Center Stage for Access and Inclusion is the newly published children’s book, "Chicago Treasure" by Larry Broutman, Rich Green, and John Rabias. Rich Green will be on hand to autograph copies of their hardcover book. By digitally imposing photographs of diverse Chicago children, many of whom have special needs, into fairytale illustrations, classic works of art, and iconic Chicago landmarks, "Chicago Treasure" creates an empowering world where every child, regardless of ability, ethnicity, or gender, is free to envision themselves taking on great roles in literature and art.  All author proceeds are donated to The Chicago Lighthouse and Access Living. Chicago Treasure has been featured on Windy City Live, ABC 7-TV, Fox 32, WGN TV, WGN Radio, and Comcast Newsmakers, and has received glowing reviews from dozens of newspapers, book blogs, parenting publications, and disability advocacy websites.

Center Stage for Access and Inclusion’s special guest performer is Avett Ray, a seven-year-old piano-playing YouTube sensation who has appeared on American Idol and the Today Show and happens to be visually impaired. Also taking the stage to wow audiences are Martell Hill aka The Lighthouse Rapper, kid drumming sensation Dallas Da Drummer, integrated dance company MOMENTA, School of Rock Oak Park, Young Chicago Authors, and Mister Danny of Chicago Magic Lounge. WGCI Radio personality and comedian Leon Rogers serves as the emcee of this full-filled afternoon.

Guests can find this free event at Navy Pier’s South Dock near the Centennial Wheel.
