Labor Day is behind us and we all know what that means (and it's not just that we can't wear white anymore). We have officially started apple picking season! We've rounded up some of the most fun apple farms to pick your own apples (some in NJ and some in NY) and every farm offers a unique experience whether you're looking for the hay rides, apple fests, or just a day out in the country. But get out there soon before all the apples are gone!

Photo of the week: Brendan Fraser came to the hospital to premier his new movie, Furry Vengeance with the kids at the Cornell pediatrics unit. He actually sat through the whole thing with them, which was really quite an act of charity considering how sick he must be of seeing his butt getting kicked by animals over and over...and over...again. Good man!

The rain won't make the whole weekend a wash! There are art festivals, music festivals, harvest festivals, and for those who want to spend the weekend indoors, grandparent's day at the Liberty Science Center and storytime at the Newark Museum. Or you may just want to hop onto an old-fashioned caboose for a ride...

If you want to get out of the city for Labor Day weekend but you don't have a car, don't fret. You don't have to feel left out of the weekend getaway crowd, just because you don't have a car and loads of cash. There are several fun places you can go for the day or weekend using public transportation. These inexpensive getaways are fun for the whole family. Just hop on the bus or train and you're on your way to a world of fun.
